Apple Music Lossless audio - The Potential Game Changer in Music streaming platforms ?

Apple came up with lossless audio and Dolby ATMOS spatial audio concept. In this blog lets understand what is lossless audio and DOLBY ATMOS .

What is Lossless audio? 

Lossless audio in bare minimum words to understand is music directly received from the music producer without any modifications in the audio. This concept comes from the old days where music producers used to directly use uncompressed audio and directly into Compact Discs . Technically songs played through compact discs sounded good than today's songs. Uncompressed audio refers to the audio which is recorded in the studio. 

Then came the music streaming platform which compressed the sound tracks so that the audio should not be burden to the user ,  like it occupies the space and it consumes much more data and it goes against the convenience for normal music streamers and to minimize their efforts of maintenance of tracks , started compression of original ( uncompressed ) audio files . This compression process lets the missing of some of frequencies that makes slightest change to the track, Normal people would not appreciate. 

Now Apple has again re-introduced the concept of Lossless audio. There were thousands of platform before too which supported lossless audio. Now Apple, will directly stream the uncompressed audio to its users. But the the catch is lossless audio is not supported in Air pods, Air pods pro, Air pods Pro max , home pod and home pod mini . Lossless audio is supported in devices like: Apple iPhone, iPad, iMac and Apple tv only. It is same as phone, tv or other speakers we cant appreciate lossless audio. Apple users now have to purchase a audio device which supports lossless audio. 

Apple Introduced two subdivisions of Lossless audio, Normal and more advanced Hi -Res Lossless audio. Apple has introduced lossless music only to apple music and it does include itunes.

What is SPATIAL AUDIO - DOLBY ATMOS? 

This is entirely different concept from lossless audio ,DOLBY ATMOS means spatial stabilization , at ease it does mean 3D sound . They are Compressed tracks but with little enhancements . It appears as if the sound is coming from all the directions and at last going through your ear . Apple has just been late in introducing Dolby - Atmos lately to their devices majority of the android devices like One plus implemented the Dolby way before than Apple.

Apple introducing  lossless audio this July for apple users is a such movement of Joy for Audiophiles and now normal listeners will also be able to appreciate the difference between compressed and loss less audio.

Due to Hype around the Apple lossless audio all the other music streaming platforms have reduced their subscription rates Amazon music has lowered its subscription cost  to $9.99 / month for Hi-Fi version. Now Spotify will also have to offer now its Hi-fi version upgradation from normal version for no extra cost to compete with the Apple's move. By all this we can say that it is a potential game changer in Music streaming Industry
